Michael Jackson : Not Guilty

47.jpg

Basking in the jurors' decision to acquit his client of all counts, Michael Jackson's lawyer said Tuesday the singer will no longer share his bed with young boys.

He's not going to do that anymore," attorney Thomas Mesereau Jr. told NBC's "Today." "He's not going to make himself vulnerable to this anymore."

Jackson was found not guilty Monday of child molestation, conspiracy and other counts. Jurors said the accusations of a young boy and his family were not credible — a total legal victory that triggered jubilation among the pop star's fans and embarrassment for the district attorney's office.

But Mesereau said the singer was still recovering from the ordeal.

Cal State offers course on the math behind games of chance.

For those who wonder about the odds behind blackjack, roulette, craps and other games, California State University, East Bay's continuing education program is offering a new summer course: "What are the odds? Introduction to gambling and chance."

No, it is not only about how to gamble, said Michael Orkin, Ph.D., the professor of the home study course. "It's about the math behind the odds."

The class is being marketed mainly to teachers, who have increasingly used gaming odds to make statistics and probability lessons more interesting — and can use such courses to build teacher education credits.

Michael Jackson Trial

Tens of thousands of Internet bets are being made on the result of Michael Jackson’s child sex trial with most putting their money on an acquital for the King of Pop. Bets will be taken right up to the moment the jury foreman reads out the verdict, which means there could be several more weeks of increasingly frenzied wagers. Betting companies expect a new wave of money to come in when the jury withdraws to deliberate.

Jackson, 46, faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted on all 10 charges of molestation, conspiracy and providing and plying a minor with alcohol. He has denied molesting a 13-year-old cancer patient, plying the boy with alcohol in order to seduce him and plotting to kidnap the boy and his family in order to ensure their silence.

Yet as extravagant as some of their mansions may seem, the homes of the super-rich are not out of proportion to their wealth. In fact, comparatively, they can seem downright modest...

Blackjack computer chips

LAS VEGAS.- The blackjack tables at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino were packed with gamblers and casino voyeurs on a recent weekend. But in the Peacock Lounge -- the casino's high-limit blackjack room, with minimum bets of $100 a hand -- the casino enjoyed an added advantage to its already stacked odds.

The reason involves a high-tech chip within a chip that is helping the Hard Rock learn more than ever about every move made by high rollers. Computer chips embedded in the plastic gambling chips communicate via radio frequency with sensors placed under the table. The technology gives the casino's operators a trove of knowledge, including a player's average bet and where each high-denomination chip is at all times...
